New Hallowell was a general hospital, but it mainly served officers. It was located in Mr. Hallowell's three story brick house on Washington St, across the road from the Old Hallowell General Hospital. From its opening to Sept.20, 1862, it was a branch of the Washington St. Hospital. It then became a branch of the 3rd Division General Hospital of Alexandria.
