McVeigh's three story brick house became a hospital on Nov. 20, 1862, and was known as the Cameron St. Hospital. It served the sick of the Convalescent Camp until it was renamed and became a branch of the 3rd Division General Hospital of Alexandria when on Jan. 24, 1863.
